Johnsonite Cove Base

How to know which covebase to use for your application.

1st decision - Vinyl or Rubber wall base?
Most standard applications do not require rubber covebase and vinyl covebase will be more than adequate. Vinyl cove base is a more budget-friendly options for homeowners and many commercial applications. Stock is generally more readily available in the vinyl base.
Rubber covebase is used often in places with high traffic and where sanitation is critical. Rubber wall base is more scuff and impact resistant for floors that will be cleaned with auto-scrubbers. You will see building such as hospitals and schools are more likely to have specifications to use rubber wall base.

2nd decision - Thickness Gauge- .080" or .125"?
If you need to use rubber your choice is easy as it only comes in .125" thick.
When using the vinyl base for a brand new installation you can choose to use the thinner gauge .080" with no problem and save a bit of money. When going on walls that had covebase before that is not completely smooth you would want to consider using the thicker .125". The reason for this is the uneven surface can sometimes be seen as ripples in the smooth surface of the wall base.

Last decisions - Height and Length
The covebase comes in 3 heights 2.5", 4" or 6" high and 2 lengths of either 4' or 120' coil (there is no in between). These choices are purely up to the user.
